WHO WE ARE

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Nagpur is a Constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), (SIU). An off-campus institute of SIU, SIBM Nagpur has been established with the aim of imparting world-class education to students and transforming them into top notch business leaders. It began with a two years’ full time MBA program with an option to specialize in Marketing, Finance, Operations or Human Resource and added Business Analytics as a fifth specialization later alongwith a new program, MBA (Food and Agri Business Management). Being part of huge 75-acre beautiful Campus, SIBM-Nagpur has state-of-the-art infrastructure and world class facilities for all-round development of students. The MBA program will be fully residential, with excellent hostel facilities, including Wi – Fi and Air conditioning. SIBM- Nagpur has the unique advantage for being situated in the upcoming educational hub of Maharashtra and in the vicinity of MIHAN Project of Government of Maharashtra, with a huge Special Economic Zone alongside. These projects are expected to house various export oriented units like I.T. industries, gems and jewellery, garments, electronic goods, pharmaceuticals, processed foods and many other type of industries. Students will get enormous opportunities for internships, and live projects. Proper Placement assistance is offered to the students, and Placements have been excellent with the maximum CTC being offered for 2022 batch at Rs. 25.6 lakhs and average CTC around 10.7 lakhs. The Institute was originally to start with an approved intake of 120 seats, which was later enhanced to 180. 25% seats are reserved for Nagpur Domiciled candidates. The Institute has met with an outstanding response from students. It offers 5 specializations: Marketing Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management and Business Analytics. The Institute offers regular corporate interactions and is also being supported strongly by senior SIBM alumni. SIBM – N also conducts Management Development Programs for reputed corporates like LnT, and has now tied up with VANAMATI, the training arm of the Government of Maharashtra, Department of Agriculture, for various training and consulting assignments.

Prof. Dr. S B Mujumdar is the Founder and President, Symbiosis, and Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University). A renowned academic and educationalist, he has received civilian honor many times by the Government of India. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2005 and Padma Bhushan in 2012. He was also awarded the “Punyabhushan” award in 2009. The complete list of accolades is far too long for these pages, and includes Maharashtra Gaurav Award and the FIE Foundation Award.

He was born on 31 July 1935, in Gadhinglaj, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra. He won a Master’s degree in Botany and a Doctorate in Microbiology. He was the Head of the Department of Botany at the Fergusson College, Pune, for over twenty years. He has authored a number of books and published research papers in botany. He also served on the Executive Council, Senate, and Academic Council of the University of Pune for several years.

DR. VIDYA YERAVDEKAR

Pro Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) & Principal Director, Symbiosis

Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar serves as the Pro Chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and is the Principal Director of Symbiosis Society. She has fulfilled her father’s vision of creating a welcoming environment for international students at Symbiosis, evolving it into a diverse and globally recognized institution with students from India and 85 countries. Dr. Vidya, with a background in Medicine, Law, and a Ph.D. in ‘Internationalisation of Higher Education in India,’ has propelled Symbiosis towards becoming a multidisciplinary university.

Under her leadership, the university comprises eight faculties covering Management, Law, Humanities & Social Sciences, Health & Biological Sciences, Computer Studies, Engineering, and Media Communication & Design. Dr. Vidya has fostered international collaborations with top universities worldwide, influencing educational policy through roles in governmental bodies like UGC, CABE, and ICCR.

She holds positions on the boards of various organizations, including Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Yeshwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, and Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences. Dr. Vidya is involved in corporate bodies such as FICCI and CII, as well as non-profit organizations like HK Firodiya Foundation and Pune Citizens Police Foundation.

As an Independent Director on the Board of RITES Limited, under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, Dr. Vidya continues to contribute to different sectors. She is an active participant in conferences, with numerous research publications and a book on ‘Internationalization of Higher Education in India’ published by SAGE. Driven by her dedication, Dr. Vidya aims to position Symbiosis International (Deemed University) as one of the top universities in Asia, earning her recognition through awards and accolades.

DR. RAMAKRISHNAN RAMAN

Vice Chancellor

Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, an accomplished academician and seasoned professional, is the Vice Chancellor at Symbiosis International (Deemed University). With a remarkable educational journey that includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering and an MBA in Systems and Marketing, and a doctoral degree in Management from Pune University, Dr. Raman brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this esteemed institution. His extensive career spanning over two decades is a testament to his diverse experience in the corporate, academic, and research domains. He has served Symbiosis for over a decade in different capacities including Professor & Director Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology, Professor & Director Symbiosis Institute of Business Management – Pune, Dean – Faculty of Management and Director – Strategy & Development. Dr. Raman’s contributions extend beyond the classroom, as he has been instrumental in fostering international collaborations with universities in Japan, Canada, United Kingdom, and the United States. His prolific research in Information Systems, IT Strategy, Entrepreneurship, AI, Big Data, has earned him recognition with international academia. He has published several papers in reputed International Journals indexed in SCOPUS and Web of Science.
