Abstract

The present work represents a mixed-method investigation to redefine Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) using some innovative variables to investigate dating-partner behaviour in the metaverse. In addition, it seeks proof that realistic threat and perceived trust have a moderating role in this proposed model. The research is split into two parts: in the first stage, dating app users’ responses have been collected from online reviews posted on social media sites. Python have been used to find out the constructs from the content analysis. Then using the constructs second phase have been started where the model has been validated by confirmatory analysis. Perceived trust moderates the association between perceived attitude and dating intention in Metaverse whereas realistic threat don’t have. Our research showed that apart from perceived accuracy of information all the other factors are having significant association towards perceived attitude. Our findings highlight the importance of both channels in persuading consumers to try out metaverse dating. In order to earn the users’ trust, they must resolve their concerns over privacy and security in the online world. To achieve this, strict user verification and security procedures should be implemented.

Abstract

With the increasing significance of gratitude studies at the workplace, the present study aims to lay a roadmap for researchers and practitioners interested in workplace gratitude. It provides an updated overview of gratitude at the workplace (2001–2021) and identifies the critical issues in the available literature. By reviewing the antecedents and consequences of workplace gratitude, the study attempts to answer three questions: to critically evaluate the issues in gratitude measurement, to whom the employees feel grateful in the workplace (target of gratitude), how the employees reciprocate the feeling of gratitude, and which theory best explains the workplace gratitude. The study concludes by offering primary direction for future research in workplace gratitude and recommendation for gratitude measurements.

Abstract

Gig economy is being increasingly popular globally across the sectors, positions and types of jobs. Despite the growing awareness of the benefits and challenges associated with gig jobs, little is known about what drives the younger generation to take up gig careers. The present study attempts to address this gap and better explain gig work intentions through extended TPB theory. The study rests on the premise that job seekers’ attitude towards gig jobs, belief in self-efficacy and the prevailing social norms influences the decision to make a gig career choice. Apart from these basic constructs of TPB model, impact of two additional factors (gig personality traits and gig work environment consisting of gig job demands and gig job resources based on JD-R model) on gig job intentions was measured to get a deeper understanding on predictors of gig jobs choices. Based on analysis of 471 responses from business management students studying in NIRF listed business schools in India, the study empirically reveals that all three basic constructs-gig job attitude, gig self-efficacy and social norms significantly influence management student’s gig job intentions. Gig job demands had a significant negative whereas gig job resources had a positive relationship with gig job intentions. The three personality traits did not have any direct significant relationship with gig job intentions. But the mediating role of gig job attitude between gig personality traits was also confirmed. The findings of the study contribute to literature on factors driving choice of gig jobs. It has huge implications for policy makers, organizations, business schools as well as society in general.

Abstract

With the rise in popularity and use of fitness apps, more research is needed to learn more about how people use the apps so that they keep using them. Stimulus-Organism-Behaviour-Consequence framework (S–O–B–C) and the Innovation Resistance Theory (IRT) together in this study to learn more about how people make decisions about how to use apps for fitness. Eight hundred and fifty-eight users of various fitness apps have responded to the questionnaire. Results show that people who are open to changing their fitness systems from traditional to app-based services enjoy new experiences and new product behaviours. For them, the perceived functional barriers to service adoption don’t hold them back. At the same time the users of fitness apps try to get health and fitness information from as many sources as possible, like friends, peer groups, the newspaper and social networking apps. Users with a high level of health consciousness are more likely to be active in their health and fitness. People who use apps make decisions based on new information from the integrated model. App providers should think about how to get and keep users interested in their apps, personalise their experience, and design features that make users invested in the apps.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has left millions of people worldwide in financial distress. But it is the families and the children who are hit the hardest due to this worst economic crisis. Job losses and salary cuts were at their peak. In order to combat this situation, borrowings increased. This further deteriorated people’s lives, and they are yet to come out of it. Students at universities are one such tribe who have suffered the most due to COVID-19 induced public emergencies and lockdown tactics resulting in recurrent closures of educational facilities. Studies have confirmed that changes in their everyday learning environment, the blurring of their professional or career paths, the absence of meaningful relationships with others, and most importantly, the financial crisis faced by family — all had a substantial impact on their psychological well-being. The present study shed light on the academic, financial, and health struggles faced by university students. It also highlighted the role of various stakeholders in the ecosystem by proposing a model to combat these struggles.

Abstract

Historically, the human resources (HR) function and functionaries have struggled to establish their credibility and value in the eyes of key stakeholders, including the top management and line managers. Arguably, one of the reasons for this struggle for acceptance is their inability to present data-driven, business-oriented proposals, requiring urgent attention to elevate the analytical capability of the HR function. This paper focuses on the role and significance of HR analytics to organizations through a Six Thinking Hats approach. It presents a holistic understanding of HR analytics encompassing the concept, benefits, limitations, and likely solutions.
